Forgeries of Jean de Speratti
Seven glass plates used in preparation of the 'VR' official forgery, each with letters 'PE', four on cream opaque painted background in brownish red, blue and black (the latter with pencil inscription at foot), and one with black painted background, the engraved portions of the stamp in black on transparent portion of glass; three on entirely transparent glass in red, blue and black. Some scratches and minor chipping as to be expected, otherwise fine, attractive, and highly rare - there being nothing of the Penny Black in the literature of Jean de Sperati - thereby offering an insight into the work of the famous forger.F
