1840 (14 Nov.) large entire addressed to Ely Place, Holborn "pr Delivery Company" bearing a fine example of the company's black circular stamp, code "C", this code has been crossed through and "L18" and brush ink cancellation; there are some vertical filing creases (a light one affects the 'stamp' and some archival repairs along some of the original folds. An extremely rare and important item of British postal history and is thought to be the only complete cover bearing one of these labels. Photo
