A collection of the London and Southern Companies with London Parcels Delivery Company 1850 "Alfred R. Haley" Carriage Paid in black on pale magenta, two examples one with control "756"; also Carriage Prepaid (without outer frame lines) in black on ultramarine; each cancelled by blue crayon, 1853 "Chas. Norman", three Carriage Prepaid labels in black on cream (2) and on very pale lilac showing different numbers in the top margin and different type of control number (one in red); each is cancelled by blue crayon, 1880's a group of Carriage Paid labels (70x60mm), the earlies on pink with handstruck control "A772" in violet, on deep red surface paper without code, printed with codes "C", "G" (2) and "M" and on rose-red paper with code "P"; Express parcel Delivery Company (London) stamps without control (3) in different shades, with code number between "1498" and "87103" unused and used, Carter, Paterson & Co. 1910-20 (c.) with the Goswell Road "free of charge" label unused and used on piece (2) both cancelled by 1913 London Chief Office Parcel Post datestamp; later types of "PAID" label bearing different codes for the various offices; later "PAID" labels for Chief Office and High Wycombe; "to Pay" labels on white (5) with codes for different offices; 1930s black and orange labels (4) and later types, Bristol Parcel Delivery Co. 1886 1d. black used and 1d. red mint and used (8); one with Totterdam Agent handstamp; 1997with Bristol at top with 1d. red mint and used (2) and 2d. green mint and used (2); 1900 revised design 2d. green used; A.W. White & Co., Portsmouth 1d. white on pink unused (2) and used plus 2d. black unused (3), one of each value from the top right corner; Sutton & Co. (London) "paid thro'" labels from London "to destination" showing some variety in type, etc., one used on piece in combination with K.E.VII 2½d. and includes and "Urgent" label on mauve, Paid label on orange; Parcel Post Company, Central Depot (London) 1847 (c.) 1d. vermilion on white, the central design features the offices at 67 Fleet Street; thinned and faults, still very rare. Also black on white label "By mail/bolt-in-tun/general coach office,/fleet street,/london." on piece addressed to Sussex; Pickford & Co., London & Suburban Carriers "PAID" labels in black on rose (5) with some different offices, Carriage to Pay labels in black on yellow-buff (2, one circular), Carriage Paid Home in black on dark red and a "TO PAY" label in blue on the original parcel label. Mixed condition with some faults though an impressive selection.
