1856 (27 Mar.) envelope to Tunbridge Wells "via Marseilles From Army in East" bearing 1841 2d. blue, plate 4, LD (margins clipped in a couple of places) with 1d. Stars (die I, perf.14, diagonal crease) tied by a single strike of "0*0" barred oval, the reverse bearing a faint strike of British Army Post Office c.d.s. in red, London and Tunbridge Wells c.d.s. Rare use of the 1841 2d. blue. Also 1855 (3 July) stampless envelope to Hastings with manuscript "3"; two 1854 3d. franked envelopes from Plymouth to the British Army in the Black Sea, both being combinations of 1841 1d. with 1d.
