A specialised collection with Charing Cross cancellations: 1885 (28 Aug.) Penny Pink envelope to Hungerford (early date of use), 1885 (28 Aug.) much travelled envelope which has been redirected to Gibraltar, London and back to Helston, Cornwall; bearing 2½d. franking tied by Helston squared circle with Gibraltar (2.9 and 5.10) postmarks, several London marks, Canterbury (14.10) and Helston (16.10), the reverse with the Charing Cross d.s., 1885 (9 Nov.) used locally in London, fresh and fine; 1886 (12 Oct.) to Haverfordwest; Dot Matrix Trial on 1887 (21 and 25 Feb.) ½d. card to Basingstoke and 1d. pink envelope to West Hartlepool; Newspaper Branch postmark on envelope from quill maker to Newton Abbot; Beford Street on 1885 (Sept.) cover from Cleveland to England redirected to Paris, two (Oct.) to London and to Burnley, and (Nov.) to Edinburgh; Receiving Marks 1886-90 with examples of the different types and codes (both numeral and alphabetic), one wrapper with additional Hoster postmark code "ZZ" (for late mail), including 1890 (July) envelope to London, readdressed to Bank of Scotland with further 1d. lilac applied over first and cancelled by this d.s., redirected again to Ulster Bank; and Official Mail on 1884 (Aug.) two stampless Bank of England envelopes each cancelled by good strikes of "london/official paid" c.d.s. in red with "*". Generally fine and a rare assembly
