First Machine: 1858 (11 June) entire letter to Paris bearing 1855-57 4d. carmine (2, one straight edge at left) cancelled by fine strikes of the number "1" duplex code "HS" with "PD" in oval and Calais transit alongside and faint Paris arrival on the reverse; 1859 (8 Feb.) entire letter to Buenos Ayres bearing 1855-57 1/- tied by "1" duplex code "HS"; and 1859 (21 March) envelope to Melbourne bearing 1855-57 6d. lilac tied by "1" code "HS", also struck by "advertised/and/unclaimed"; and 1855-57 4c. carmine cancelled by "2". A scarce group
