An impressive group of the First and Second Trials, with First Trial: 1869 (Apr.- June) a group of covers from the first trial with postmarks made of sections 1,2,4,3,2,5, 1,3,4,2,4,5 (3), 1,2,4,2,5 (6) on two covers, one a Penny Pink envelope uprated 1d.; 1869 (13 May) commercial wrapper to Leadenhall Street bearing 1d. Plate 109 tied by fine strike of the postmark of sections 1.2.3.4.5 with c.d.s "Y1" to left; 1869 (2 Apr.) two envelopes to Scotland, one with code "Y" and segments 3,2 to Annan, the other to Glasgow, without code and with sections 3,2,5; 1869 (23 June) blue envelope to Knaresborough bearing 1d. Plate 124 tied by fine strike of the postmark of sections 1.2.3.4.5 with c.d.s "Y1"; Also Second Trial 1871 (10 May) a neat envelope to Hinckley bearing 1d. plate 110 tied by a good strike of the postmark with sections 1,2,4,3.2.(5); a very early date of use. Also Second Trial 1871 (20 May) commercial wrapper from Boulogne to London bearing Bordeaux 30c. brown (good to large margins) cancelled by gross chifres and additionally tied by a good strike of the Azemar 1,2,4,3,5 postmark (22.5) with the despatch c.d.s. alongside, boxed "PD" and London Paid c.d.s. in red with further London c.d.s. in red on the reverse. Fine and very scarce. Calves certificate (1998). A superb group
