Plate 176, SA-SF, TE, TF, TH-TK (singles) on 1854 (30 June) entire to Capt. C. Leventhorpe in North Carolina, U.S.A., each cancelled by "397" numeral and showing "21/cents" accountancy handstamp in red, the reverse with Buckden despatch, Huntingdon and London transit; the stamps are centred low and the original folding crease runs through TE; a good 1/- rate letter to America. Capt. Collett Leventhorpe moved to America, he later joined the Confederate Army with the rank of colonel in the 34th North Carolina Infantry, rising to the rank of brigadier general. He was the only English general serving in the Confederate Army
