Lowick: 1847 (c.) valentine used locally in Lowick bearing plate78 (?). BE (small to large margins) cancelled by this distinctive Maltese Cross in blue, handmade and showing a dot in the centre instead of the diamond, with undated circular postmark on the flap. A stunning and delightful cover. Brandon certificate (2000) "genuine, as far as one can say". Photo
Recorded and illustrated in The Encyclopaedia of the Maltese Cross, Vol. 1, Rockoff and Jackson, Pg. 181 which is inconclusive, thus the cover is sold 'as is'.
