SI in a deep shade, small to good margins on 1840 (23 May) envelope used within London cancelled by a scarlet-red Maltese Cross and straight-line "Charing Cross" in black; the adhesive has been placed at the edge of the envelope and there is a small fault in the top right corner which almost touched the design; the flap opens well to display the datestamp on the reverse.
