(x) Austrian Levant & Ottoman Postal Interaction in Albania (1869-1870)
1870 (Aug. 31). Cover from Scutari to Venice, franked by two examples of Turkey 1868 20pa. green (Michel 14A), tied by very fine small "scutari d'albanie" thimble c.d.s. in blue, paying the Ottoman courier service by horse from Scutari to Antivari, where the Austrian type 2 c.d.s. was struck at right. Taxed with 35 kreuzer in blue crayon including 25kr. for the Antivari-Trieste sea route and 10kr. for the Trieste-Venice portion of the journey. Trieste and Venice backstamps. Part of the addressee's panel cut off. A very scarce mail without application of the Austrian franking.
