1916 thin horizontally laid paper, 1d. black block of twelve [1-4/5-8/9-12], consisting of the top three rows of the sheet, sheet margins at top showing plate number "9", sheet margins at both sides, position [6] with variety "7" for "&" and "one penny" shifted to left, position [2] showing full stop for colon in left frame, position [5] with line under "one penny" extended at right, positions [7] and [8] showing "one penny" shifted to left, position [10] showing "g.r.i." shifted to left; usual creases in a multiple of this size. Very rare. S.G. 10/10a, £9,450+. Photo

Note: Only two examples of S.G. 10a have been recorded, the example in the above block and an unused single which was in the Marquess of Bute sale.
