Lot: 203

Hong Kong
1863-71 Watermark Crown CC
4c. bluish slate, perf 12½, part original gum with hinge remnants at top. A good example of this most elusive stamp. S.G. 9f, £12,000. Photo

Note: It is not known why the perf 12½ stamps were produced. It is possible that a different perforating machine was employed if the main one temporarily broke down. It is possible that this was a trial for a perforating machine and the stamps were issued. It is estimated that about 100 sheets were issued.
