1902 (30 Jan.) 'On Public Service Only/ New Zealand/ Post and Telegraph Dept.' envelope to Los Angeles, USA bearing 1898-1903 2½d. overprinted 'o.p.s.o.' in violet diagonally and tied to by 'wellington/ n.z.' c.d.s., the reverse with San Francisco (18.2) and Los Angeles (19.2) c.d.s. The cover was unclaimed and showing on the front "advertised unclaimed/ mar 3 1902/due 1 cent./ los angels ca." handstamp in blue and on the reverse "dead letter office" (26.3) triangular c.d.s., subsequently returned to New Zealand and handstamped with "dead letter office n. z." c.d.s. in red.
