1879 (11 Nov.) triple rate envelope from Middlesborough to Isaac Sharp at Antananarivo, bearing GB 2d. blue, 6d. grey Pl. 16 (2) and 1/- green Pl. 13, all clearly tied by "946" duplex, showing red crayon "2.10" with blue Mauritius transit c.d.s. (12.12) on reverse; the envelope with some peripheral creasing. Photo

Note: The French, who blockaded the port at Tamatave, charged 2f.10, and it was carried by runner to the capital.
