'O.H.M.S.' envelope sent Registered to Pietermaritzburg in the hand of Harry Gardiner and signed by him at lower left as per the postal regulations, cancelled at upper right by 'eshowe/ zululand' double-ring datestamp; also 1886 Returned Letter envelope addressed to the Postmaster Mr J Faye in Eshowe, Mr. Jorgan Faye held the position of Postmaster and European Constable and messenger but at this time was acting Sheriff, a position that he would later fully hold; an interesting pair
