Banco Central Del Uruguay, [2 banknote designs] front and back designs for 1000 Pesos Uruguayos & 100,000 Nuevos Pesos, 1989-1992,

Juana de Ibarbourou is depicted on these banknote designs. She was a much-celebrated Uruguayan poet and nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times during her lifetime. Undoubtedly a champion of Latin American literature, she and her works, including Chico Carlo, Raiz salvaje, El Cantaro Fresco, Perdida, Las Lenguas de diamante, Loores de Nuestra Sera, Estampas de la Biblia, and La rosa de los vientos, are celebrated on this note.
