(x) Reserve Bank of India, watermarked paper for 10,000 Rupees, 1950, (Pick 50-50A, Jhun&Rez 6.11), in PMG holder, mounted on blue card, three cancellation holes, printer's annotations in ink, a remarkable example of this extremely elusive and sought-after highest denomination. Featuring the immediately recognisable Ashoka Pillar at left, "Rs 10,000 Rs" in three lines at right, and the bank name at lower centre with chains extending around parts of all four edges. A wonderful piece of Indian numismatic history, with only one example ever sold publicly.
