George III (1760-1820), Pattern Crown, 1820, by Thomas Webb and George Mills for John Mudie, Soho [Birmingham], laureate head right, rev crowned shields cruciform, national emblems in angles, edge plain, 27.55g, 12h (L&S 214; ESC 221; Bull 2055), some minor rim bruising and a test cut at reverse 11 o’clock, otherwise with a rich cabinet tone overlying residual brilliance, struck details a bolder very fine, very rare, only 221 struck in January 1820 before the dies were cancelled
