William and Mary (1688-1694), Five-Guineas, 1691 TERTIO, conjoined laureate busts right, rev. crowned and garnished shield of arms, eight strings, eleven billets, •+•+• DECVS • ET • TVTAMEN • • ANNO • REGNI • TERTIO lettered downwards, 41.68g, 5h (MCE 136; King 124-125; Stratos 190; Schneider II, 462/-; EGC I, 344; S.3422), assessed by NGC as ‘cleaned’, a seeming absurdity given the unbroken and natural orange yellow lustrous colour of this coin which in our view is warmly cabinet toned with attractive underlying lustre, a most pleasingly bold very fine / almost extremely fine
