(x) Edward III (1327-1377), Treaty Period, Quarter-Noble, 1363-1369, Calais, + EDWARD : DEI : GRA : REX : AnGL, annulet before EDWARD, double saltire stops, lombardic Ns, curule X, Royal shield set with semé of four fleurs in first quarter, inside double-tressure of eight arches, crescent above shield, rev. + EXALTABITVR : In : GLORIA : double-entered G, double saltire stops, lombardic N, 'Treaty' X, floriate cross, with small extra double fronds on stems, leopards in angles, large annulet at centre, 1.920g [29.63grns], 6h, m.m. cross pattée (Doubleday -, cf. 274-275; Schneider I, 104/-; North 1246 variety; S.1515), minor edge fracture, otherwise lustrous, a bolder very fine, very rare, the muling of 'X' puncheons especially intriguing!
