(x) Edward III (1327-1377), Fourth Coinage, Pre-Treaty Period, Half-Noble, 1354-1355, Series C/E, Tower (London), E | DWARD '• DEI • G • REX [• ANGL '• 7 •] FRANC • D • hYB, single annulet stops, closed E, King standing in ship, brandishing long sword and Royal shield set with semé of four fleurs and crescents in first quarter, wearing Royal jupon over brigandine armour, ropes 3/3, quatrefoils 3/3, bow-sprit through foc'sul, ornaments 1-1-11, leopards facing left, rev. + DOMInEnE : In • RVRORE : TVO • ARGVAS : ME [sic], double saltire stops, floriate cross, crowned leopards in angles, with additional lys in second quarter, small closed E at centre, 3.810g [58.80grns], 2h, i.m. cross 2 (3) (LAL, p. 441, Pl. III (XVII), no. 25 same dies; Baldwin 40, 3 May 2005, lot 161 same dies; Lockett 4267 = Schneider I, 22 same dies; North 1145/1161; S.1492/1493), clipped and slightly waterworn, otherwise almost very fine and extremely rare, the die sinker's error (RVRORE for FVRORE) remarkably clear, only six specimens known to this cataloguer
