(x) Cnut 'the Great' (1016-1035/6), 'Quatrefoil' Type, Penny, c. 1017-1023, Cricklade, Siduwine, + ZNCV.T REX ANGLOR• diademed and draped bust left, within quatrefoil, rev. + ZIDEPINE ON CROC, voided long cross with crescent ends, pellets in quarters and pellet at centre, over quatrefoil, 0.92g [14.20grns], 12h (Rev. William Allan, WANH [1880], p. 293; SCBI 13 [Copenhagen], 294; SCBI 66 [BM], 1934-1936; North 781; BMC VIIId; S.1157), heavier peck marks to reverse and lightly crimped, nevertheless richly cabinet toned, a most pleasingly bold very fine, an extremely rare mint, and notably all reference specimens for this type in the British Museum being mere fragments
