(x) Danish East Anglia (c. 885-915), 'St Edmund Memorial Coinage', Penny, Post-Cuerdale Issues, Lightweight or 'Small Flan' type, c. 905/910-915, East Anglian Mint, Vidit, + SICAVEO • unbarred A in centre, rev. + VIDIT MO, cross pattée in centre, 0.72g [11.11grns], 12h (Walmgate (York) Hoard, Feb. 1856; J D A Thompson, IBCH, no. 392; Archaeological Journal XIII, p. 283; Hoffman, BNJ [2023], pp. 37-94; SE23, Pl. 6, no. 186 this coin illustrated; SCBI -; North 483; BMC -; S.960), edges chipped with a trace of porosity to reverse, otherwise supremely sharp for strike, with a deep cabinet tone, about extremely fine, the reverse near so, an extremely rare issue long considered an elusive Round Halfpenny, with a 'perfect' provenance through many celebrated cabinets
