Eadred (946-955), 'Crowned Bust' Type, Penny, Uncertain Mint, Æthelweard, + EADRED REX, legend begins at 8 o'clock, crowned and draped bust right, breaking solid inner circle, rev. ADELVERÐ MONETA around small cross pattée in solid inner circle, 1.354g [20.895grns], 3h (CTCE 235; SCBI 34 [British Museum, Part V], 695; EMC 2024.0056 this coin; North 713; S.1115), the present third known specimen of this moneyer, with occasional field scuffs to a broad, full round planchet, approaching extremely fine, a delightful and charming portrait specimen for this King!
