Frank Porter was born circa 1875 and joined the Calcutta Volunteer Rifles around 1892. He is listed as an Assistant at Ranken & Co., 4 Old Court House Street by 1900 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in December 1906. Advanced Lieutenant in July 1910, he was present for the Durbar of 1911 and was attached to the 22nd Battalion, London Regiment (The Queen's). Taking his L.S. Medal as per A.O. 521 of September 1912, he is listed as a partner of the outfitters Porter, Stimpson & Co., Old Court Street, Calcutta.
