(x) South Atlantic 1982, with rosette (Sto A D Goodman D172959V HMS Intrepid), very fine

At the outbreak of the Falklands war, H.M.S. Intrepid was brought back from decommission to serve in Operation Corporate, the British effort to recapture the islands. Commanded by Captain Peter Dingemans, she carried 1500 troops, including elements of the 3 Commando Brigade, along with their supporting vehicles, supplies and landing craft. On the 21 May, she participated in the landings at San Carlos Water during Operation Sutton. Intrepid offloaded her troops, artillery and armoured vehicles while under frequent air attacks. Four days later, on 25 May, Intrepid assisted the S.B.S. patrols ahead of their attacks on Darwin and Goose Green by carrying out covert night landings along the coast. She was later used to house 1600 Argentinean prisoners of war.
