Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Copenhagen 1801 (John Brown.), contact marks and some edge bruising, otherwise very fine
Two men of this name appear on the Roll with a single-clasp medal for the Battle of Copenhagen: one served as an Able Seaman aboard the 12-gun brig H.M.S. Tigress, and the other as an Ordinary Seaman aboard the 74-gun H.M.S. Saturn. Whilst the latter vessel saw little action during the battle on 2 April 1801, Tigress received the wrath of Admiral Nelson in a letter after the battle, in which he remarked upon "the glaring misconduct of the Officers of the Tigress and Cracker gun brigs" (Naval Chronicle, Vol. 6, p.69 refers).
