Auction: 25400 - World Banknotes - e-Auction
Lot: 57
(x) Bermuda Government, £1, 1914, serial number 004474,
We are delighted to present this Bermuda Government Pick 1 at auction. An exceptionally rare and elusive banknote which seldom appears on the market, especially in such a remarkable grade. According to the PMG Census, there are only two notes in higher grades than this.
The banknote is understated yet striking. Deep green and black hues, accented by a bold red serial number that immediately draws the eye. It exemplifies the phrase 'less is more', combining simplicity with undeniable presence of design.
The absence of a serial number prefix highlights the note's limited issuance. Also on the obverse is the denomination and the coat of arms of Bermuda and the motto "QUO FATA FERUNT" - 'Where Fate Carries Us'. This is in reference to Bermuda's strong maritime heritage, as seen on their coat of arms' depiction of a ship being tossed about at sea.
A powerful symbol of Bermudian history, this banknotes is an exceptionally rare and important collectible.
(Pick 1, BNB 101), in PMG holder 25 Very Fine, minor ink, only 2 notes in higher grade on PMG census
