AN OUTSTANDING SILVER AND ENAMEL POCKET WATCH OF SIR JASWANTSINGHJI FATEHSINGHJI
A presentation silver and enamel pocket watch of Sir Jaswantsinghji Fatehsinghji, Thakur Sahib of Limbdi, by J. W. Benson, blued steel hands, outer sections with superb engine-turned blue ground with portrait of Sir Jaswantsinghji Fatehsinghji, Thakur Sahib of Limbdi on one side and the State Coat of Arms on the other, the case with silver marks and numbered '292597'.

A very attractive piece, good very fine.
Sir Jaswantsinghji Fatehsinghji, a member of the Jhala Rajput family and brother of the Maharao of Cutch (whose own portrait is held in the Royal Collection (OM 295)) was educated in England and appointed to the Legislative Council of Bombay (Mumbai) in 1884. In 1887, he returned to England as one of the representatives of the Princes of Western India and was received by Queen Victoria.
A widely travelled and capable ruler, he also visited the United States and Canada. He was awarded the Jubilee Medal and the badge of the Order of the Indian Empire.
