In 1988, the Bank of England announced a new series of banknotes to be introduced in 1990 and 1994. Designed by Roger Withington, the notes would feature a new portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, along with historical figures on the reverse. The notes presented here were originally owned by an employee involved in printing the new series and have since been passed down to his son. One of only 400 pairs. For the first time, these low serial number Gill £5 and Kentfield £10 notes are being brought to market,
