India, Post-Gupta, Maitrakas of Valabhi (Bhattarakasa) (late 5th-8th century), AR Drachms (4), billon Drachms (2), bust of king right, derived from that found on Gupta Drachms, rev. three-pronged trident, with Brahmi legend around rajno mahakshatrapa parama aditya bhakta mahasamanta sri sarva bhattarakasa or variants of this (Pieper, Ancient Indian Coins Revisited, 912 - 915; MAC 4887-98), the silver coins very fine or better, with clear legends when struck on flan, scarce in this condition, the billon Drachms about fine to fine; Vardhanas, Siladitya Harshavardhana (c. 606-47), AR Drachm, bust of king left, rev. fan-tailed peacock, with a blundered version of Brahmi legend, vijitavanir avanapati sri siladitya divam jayati (Pieper, Ancient Indian Coins Revisited, 928; MAC 4933-37), with dark tone showing design and legend to best advantage, good fine, scarce (7)
