Early Artefacts (3) | including, Roman (c. 3rd century AD), Gilt Copper-Alloy Spoked Disc Plate Brooch, central hub and curved spokes, rev. pin-lug and catch, missing pin, diameter: 22mm, 6.65g [102.63grns], (cf. PAS: WILT-046EC4, SOMDOR-2AA641, NARC1468, NARC-E0DC98, NCL-D05155, BUC-D2EF20), much gilding remains on the front, fine; also Anglo-Scandinavian Viking (c. 10th-11th century AD), Howling Beast Stirrup Mount, of sub-triangular form, mounting hole at apex and two to the lower edge, wolf in profile facing left, head thrown back, one paw raised, rev. vestigial ledge, diameter: 46mm, 18.35g [283.18grns], (Williams Class A, Type 11A; cf. PAS: KENT-936AB0, NCL-76AEA7, BERK-556B81), worn and slightly oxidised but motif remains clear, some porosity, fine; and finally, Anglo-Saxon (c. 500-700), Gilt Copper Alloy Button Brooch, no clear decipherable design, likely stylised face or zoomorphic motif, rev. pin-lug and catch, missing pin, diameter: 18mm, 3.96g GRAINS (cf. PAS: OXON-FAFF0E, KENT-25223B, IOW-218EB6), chipped on 25% of edge, worn with some oxidisation, otherwise with much remaining gilt, fine (3)
