Delhi Durbar 1911 (2) (6195 L/C G Revels R Sx Rgt; 9129 L/C: C. Holroyde. 1st: Durham. L.I.), engraved, good very fine
George Revels was born at Wendover, Buckinghamshire in 1881 and attested at Oxford on 12 February 1900. Posted to South Africa he served during the Anglo-Boer War from 26 August 1901-16 October 1902. Posted to India from there he appeared on the Delhi Durbar roll, listed as serving with the Civil Police on Railway Duty at the time. Returning to Britain after over eleven years in India, he was discharged there on 31 July 1914.
George Holroyde was born at Sheffield and enlisted at South Shields, he is confirmed on the roll of the Delhi Durbar in the rank of Lance Corporal. Still serving on the outbreak of the Great War, he entered the war in France on 8 September 1913, transferring to the 19th Battalion he was killed in action on 6 May 1917.
