William Ernest Cooper was born at Redhill, Surrey on 6 September 1888. He enlisted into the Metropolitan Police on 8 December 1908 and was promoted to Sergeant on 12 June 1920, Station Sergeant 4 December 1925 and Inspector on 24 April 1931.

Joseph Holyoak served as 315905 Royal Engineers and enlisted on 15 December 1915 and was discharged with Sickness on 3 March 1919, he is not entitled to any further medals.
