The Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers or Rifle Volunteer Corps were founded in 1859 and amalgamated in 1881 into the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).

The 5th Volunteer Battalion, Royal Highlanders were founded initially as the 3rd (Perthshire) Rifle Volunteer Corps, under the command of the 2nd Marquess of Breadalbane.
