Royal Humane Society, bronze type II (John Buxton, 3. July. 1872.) engraved, good very fine

Nottingham and Midland Counties Daily Express, Friday, July 5, 1872.

'The Young man Arthur Raynor was passing by at the time on his road to work, and on seeing the woman struggling in the water he jumped in, without divesting himself of any of his clothing, to her rescue. The stream, in consequence of the late heavy rains, being much swollen, carried them both down at a rapid rate, and there was an imminent danger of both being drowned. John Buxton, the man previously referred to, observed their peril, and at the risk of his own life went into the water. After strenuous efforts, he succeeded in rescuing both of them. The young woman was much exhausted, and had to be carried to the Trent Bridge inn, but Raynor was able to walk.'
