Leith Kenneth Crow was born at Hawthorn, Victoria on 30 August 1923, the son of Leith and Eveleen Crow, and educated at Scotch College in Melbourne. Enlisting in December 1941 while working as a pottery manufacturer, he was first posted to an Infantry Battalion before transferring to the Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Joining the Royal Australian Air Force in November 1943 Crow was to spend the rest of the war with them serving at home as a L.A.C. He was discharged on 23 April 1945 and moved to New Zealand for work with the Tauranga Electrical Company.
Leaving that work Crow attested with the New Zealand Regiment on 1 August 1957, listing his trade as 'Traveller'. He embarked aboard the transport Captain Cook on 28 November 1957 for service in Malaya. Here they formed part of 28th Commonwealth Infantry Brigade Group, Ipoh Taiping Area, North Malaya undertaking anti-terrorist operations in Perak State.
The Battalion served in theatre for two years before being relieved by 2nd Battalion, New Zealand Regiment in November 1959. Crow embarked back aboard the Captain Cook on 25 November 1959 and was discharged in Australia on 29 February 1960; sold together with copied research.
