this note has been handsigned by Robert S Austin, with original paper, reading £1, 15th March 1960,

this series of £1 and 10 Shilling notes holds significance in British monetary history. In 1956, the UK Treasury declared that the Bank of England had permission to portray a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the new banknotes. The £1 note was issued in 1960, followed by the 10 Shilling note in 1961. The portrait was designed by the British artist and engraver Robert Austin, who depicted the Queen wearing the Diamond Diadem - the crown Her late Majesty wore for her coronation. However, the portrait faced criticism for appearing too regal and serious in the eyes of the public,
