Provenance

The Nicholas Rhodes Collection of Nepalese Coins and Medals: Part One

Bhupendra Narayan Shrestha, by private treaty, June 1968

A very elusive issue of the modern Nepalese coinage that is missing from nearly all collections of Nepalese coins.

There exist 50 Paisa coins, dated VS 2007, in the name of Tribhuvan (KM # 721) on which the first part of the obverse legend has been carefully changed to Śrī Śrī/ Śrī Gyanendra. The Rhodes specimen is an original issue in the name of Gyanendra.
