Official Stamps
1948 (15 Aug.) Gandhi 10r. purple brown and lake overprinted "service", a horizontal strip of four [R1/2-5] with imprint at top reading "impression courvoisier s.a.". the first and fourth stamps with minor imperfections mentioned for the sake of total accuracy, otherwise superb unmounted mint and a most important piece. This can be considered among the most important items from Indian philately, and certainly of the post 1947 period, being the unique multiple of this very rare stamp. A block of four exists in the Royal Philatelic Collection, though no other multiples of any number are known in private hands. B.P.A. Certificate (2015). S.G. O105d, £640,000 as singles. Photo
