Great Britain
King Edward VII Issues
1911-13 Somerset House
6d. bright magenta on chalk surfaced paper overprinted "specimen" (Type 22), regummed though a rare stamp. R.P.S. Certificate (1948), M35s, £5,750

Notes: The ink used for the printing reacted with the chalky surface of the paper and caused a variation in colour, and the paper itself to fluoresce bright lemon under ultra violet light. It was withdrawn the day after issue after which the 6d. stamps were printed on ordinary paper until the "Dickinson" coated paper was introduced in March 1913.
