1900 (23 Mar.) opened-out stampless patriotic envelope posted en route, the mail was taken ashore before disembarkation and this bears a fine strike of Canadian Contingent type II dated oval in red (23.3), with Field Post Office B.O. c.d.s. (23.3) and London Paid c.d.s. (16.4), countersigned by the commanding officer; the reverse bearing Toronto arrival c.d.s. (8.3). The envelope is a Richey 'Soldiers of the Queen' with Wesley imprint. A good cover taken ashore before the 'Milwaukee' docked. Also (27 Mar.) illustrated Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition envelope to Toronto bearing Cape 1d. tied by Sea Point c.d.s., the reverse with Cape Town and Toronto c.d.s. (surplus envelopes were donated to the troops). (2 covers)
