"D" Battery, Field Artillery
1900 (8 Aug.) stampless envelope from the Quirmbach correspondence to Ontario, marked "Stamps unavailable", with a partial strike of Army P.O. c.d.s. and a good strike of oval Canadian Contingent type II datestamp (13.8) in purple, Hamilton and Berlin (14.9) arrival c.d.s. on the reverse; light ageing. The Battery was at Pienaar's Poort, Transvaal at this time.


1900 (2 Aug.) envelope to Artillery Driver Quirmbach bearing Canada Q.V. 1c. green (5) tied by Berlin duplex and bearing Field Post Office/55 c.d.s. (26.9) much travelled trying to reach the addressee via Cape Town, Bloemfontein and finally to "no 2 Gen Hosp Pretoria", flap missing and soiled, nevertheless a rare and desirable item of incoming mail.
