Mail Transfer at Sea: 1899 (15 Nov.) Y.M.C.A. crossed flags envelope (type C) to Belgium marked "Soldier's Letter" and redirected on arrival, bearing Belgian 10c. postage due tied by Bruxelles c.d.s., tax handstamp, boxed "trouve a la boite/in de bus gevonden" handstamp, the reverse with London transit (29.11) and Bruxelles c.d.s. (30.11) and marked "Nov 10th 1899 S.S. 'Sardinian' - a few days off St Vincent"; there are a few small repaired opening tears. This is part of the mail that was transferred at sea to the S.S. 'Rangatira'. A magnificent showpiece. Photo
