CG-GH horizontal pair, wonderful clear margins all round, tied by superbly struck Maltese Crosses in red to 1840 (15 May) printed "Post Paid. Norwich Union Fire Insurance Office." envelope sent from Norwich to Fakenham, the reverse with Norwich 15.04.40 d.s. Envelope with some foxing commensurate with age and vertical fold well clear of the adhesives. B.P.A. Certificate (1993). A beautiful pair and usage, and a rare early date.
