LA, intense black shade, small to large margins and showing a trace of the adjoining stamp at lower right, tied by a bold red Maltese Cross cancellation in a pinkish red shade (as noted in Rockoff & Jackson) to 1840 (3 Oct.) entire letter from Burton on Trent to Ashby-de la-Zouche with superb red script Too Late on the front and Burton on Trent c.d.s (3 Oct. 1840) on the reverse. Very fine and most attractive.
