The Famous Window Man Receipt
1830 (19 Jan.) General Post Office Ireland 'Window Man Receipt' (Type 2, without rays) for 4/6d., initialled "AL" (Ambrose Lyster). The design just truncated at left and usual paper wrinkles, though an important and popular rarity.

Notes: Under the system of Free Registration, these receipts were issued if requested for double rate or heavier letters. Receipts were bound in a book hence the irregular sides on separating from binding.
