1797 (8 May) entire letter from Glasgow with address panel reading "Hector Currie, Soldier Dumbarton Fus. Regt, Guernsey", correctly posted unpaid, though unusually charged "1", the soldiers and seamen's rate on arrival, likely because the letter was addressed to an Officer and not a soldier, thus contravening soldiers' and seamens' privileges. Fine and scarce.
