1686 (1 September) entire letter from Exeter to Spain via London endorsed "post pd to Byon 18d" and charged "2" on arrival. While the letter transmitted though London, the Bishop mark was not applied to outgoing mail, predating the earliest Falmouth Packet service. Fine and scarce.
